On Jan 15, 1984 our Chapter was formed as the Kicking Horse Chapter at a dinner meeting at the Golden Rim Dining Room. Sixteen members were present at the second meeting. Elections were held on Jan. 29, 1984 with Wayne DeMuelenare being elected the first President. He is now the Club's Honourary member
In discussions that followed it was determined that the aim of the members was to restore cars to their original condition. A means of doing this was to attend camp outs and Show 'N' Shines sponsored by other clubs. In that way we could look for parts and make new friends at the same time.
By Feb. 12, 1984, we were officially members of the Vintage Car Club of Canada.
The Club's first camp out was held Aug. 4 -6, 1984 at Edgewater, B. C. All had fun and a few members from Revelstoke also attended. We participated in the 100th anniversary of Parks Canada, June 30, 1985
After two years we held camp outs with Revelstoke Chapter, alternating between Golden and Revelstoke. This tradition continued for about five years until the Fun In the Sun took over. Over the years we put floats in various parades. After many people asking if we were members of a local horse club, we changed our name to Rocky Mountain Cruisers Chapter, in Nov. 1991.
In 1992 the Fun In the Sun became a Show 'N' Shine. The membership grew but is now on a decline again. One year since 1991 we tried a camp out but the turnout was poor, so back to the Show 'N' Shine.
Members still attend out of town shows as well as many swap
meets.
